Help, XJ need compressor tech

I have an older home made compressor. Detour said he might have a buyer for it so I dig it out of the shed and fire it up. Everything works...well except...it doesn't compress. :roll: What would be the 1st thing to check? Can I pull the head off and look for some gaskets or something?

It was cold when I started, but I got it warmed up with a little torch action. :twisted: Don't know,Your buddy wanted a WORKING compressor...go figure. I told him it would be a good project for him and his grandson. I'm thinking of just buying a new compressor head from China and calling it a day.

If it is a tank type compressor, I'll take it for the tank. I'll hook it to a WORKING one to slow down the cfm usage.

I actually do use it like that. I made up a T and gang the new and old compressors together. So now I have a 60 gal reciever...or maybe 40 gal...whateva. Scew it! I'm buying a chinese head outta Harbor Freight. :shock:
