wow that's a really complete kit, that's going to be sick man! I don't see anything missing. should make plenty of room to stuff those 31's :P what size tires are you going with? are you having the driveshaft made locally? can't wait to see it!

Seth, you ever hear of the boy who cried wolf??? Just order the damn lift already.... Lets get it in and done.... Seems like its going on a year already.... How about this, give Jared your Credit Card and let him spend all that money so it does not feel so bad....

well maybe Jared is a bad choice...

Have you followed the articles in JP about the kit? Looks like a really good kit, but they did run into a couple small problems.

The problem I ran into with my 6" kit (I however added 1.25" more) is the front driveshaft angles. You'll have to choose between NASTY vibes or very little castor.

i'm gonna go with a tom woods sye kit/shaft. i need to measure mine and everything, so i may need a hand to make sure i'm getting everything right. at the risk of looking overbuilt and under rubbered, i may stick with the 31's for a bit until i can financially recover from the lift/sye. then i'll probably move up to 33's and regear at some point. once it's done maybe you can join us for another poker game and take a gander... :).

it's for real this time damon. i am picking up a check for $1500 tonight and it's all going to the lift, no credit card needed. i have the cash to cover the sye too now. gonna order the lift early next week, then make an effort to get the measurements for the slip yoke. no crying wolf here, baby!

oh, and i love my bro and all, but he can pry my credit from my cold, dead hands...

i didn't see the articles, are they online at all? did you have the problems before the extra 1.25" or after? thanks for the info.

No, I never drove it with only 6". Don't know if the info is online either. The most important info was in the April and December issues.

Do you have a high pinion Dana 30? I've had 2 97+ XJs with high pinion front axles, but more and more I'm hearing that there were low pinion fronts thrown into a lot of XJs as well.

After the lift was installed they had to switch to manual disconnect hubs because of the vibrations.

I gave precedence to driveline angles over castor. At about 3 degrees of positive castor, my XJ does just fine at 65+ mph.

Before I decided to swap axles in my Jeep, I was planning on setting my castor back to the stock 7 degrees and getting a dual double cardan front drive shaft. It was a possibility, but that might be more weight than I'd like to hang off the pinion of a Dana 30.

Don't get worried, I think you might be able to make a decent compromise between castor and pinion angle. Just find a qualified alignment shop that can comprehend the reality of an adjustable suspension.

i wish i knew even half of what you're talking about. the most automotively inclined thing i've done is install a k&n air filter. i do believe that i have a high pinion, but i will find out. is there something i should get to bring to the wrench fest that i hope is going to happen? (hint, hint)

"at the risk of looking overbuilt and under rubbered"

I don't think you'd find a guy on here that wouldn't LIKE to have that problem!

Can't wait to see it!!! I would love to help you with the install. Want to see if I want to spend the money on the same kit. What is the total cost? Including rear shaft and sye?

Thanks for the offer, your help would be much needed and and greatly appreciated. i think if i get the sye thru the same place as the lift it ends up at around $2200 (not sure if that includes shipping) before the refunded core charge for the shaft. i live up near worcester, ma but i think the wrenching will take place closer to you...Damon, did i hear you offer up your place?

No problem Seth, also if you want some info about the high or low pinion, IM me and I will tell you how to look. Even if you have any problems, you can still drive it.

The great part is people will be dropping to their knees to check put your rig... Just don't have Jared around or they will get an unpleasant surprise.

An if we are talking about the same JP article, that lift if I remember correctly was different, it is their Rally lift... (high speed desert dunes)

i will IM you next time i see you online. it's good to know that i can get away with driving it even if there are some problems; after all, this is my DD.

BTW, have any of you seen these?:

are they useful or necessary? i just got some procomp ES3000's. thanks

Yeah they were jumping it and putting it through a lot of abuse that the everyday XJ won't see.

I was just referring to the driveline vibe issue from the front shaft. I never even thought of problems from that until I first drove the Jeep and could hear my shaft binding.

Just wanted to give you a heads up. Problems like that are never admitted by the manufacturers in the instructions, but can be easily solved.

Let me know if there is anyway I can help you plan or figure anything out.

Those Procomp shocks blow dog pile!! Can you upgrade the shocks????

Also, CJohn7 has some decent 31's he's willing to let go cheap, they're
moocho better than the ones I gave you!!!
You should pm him!!!!!!! He'll work with ya....

well, the shocks were a temporary solution because i decided to go with a more expensive lift. i can make due for now. not to mention toyworx said he ran them in his CJ and they were fine. i've seen what he does i that thing and that's a pretty good testimonial for me. thanks for the tip on tires, i may just do that. detour, did you like the retreaded tires from hifgh-tec? would you buy them again?

Modified CJ & an XJ are totally different, ask Bullet how likes his.

They blow!! Loud clunky and rough. I'm going to Doesch Tech's next.

that's cool. like i said, it's a temporary fix. don't have the cash to do everything right at the same time. gotta cut some corners here and there just so i can get started.

yeah, i actually already physically have the shocks. i knew for the most part what i was getting into, and that i wouldn't really be feeling the full niceness of the lift. but being that i am going all out for the lift and that i probably won't ever buy another one, i figured that i can upgrade in other areas, like shocks, gears, tires, etc. down the line. the basic idea was that i had to cheap out somewhere to begin with to allow me to go with the full traction over the rusty's. the money i'm spending is all the money i have that can go toward jeep stuff.
