High Idle

My cherokee idles high when in park and in neutral but when shifted into gear it returns to the normal low RPM's. No idea what could be worng i need some help, Oh yea i have the 4.0 I6 its a 1990 Cherokee Thanks

Clean or replace the IAC "idle air control" motor. You might as well take the throttle body off and clean that out real good too.

Whats the IAC look like? someone tell me?

Looking from the front of your Jeep it's on the throtle body on the left side of it the TPS is to the right of it. I can't explain any simpler than that.

And oh yeah you might as well clean the whole darn throttle body while you're at it. Underside of throttle plate and every vacuum port.
