I had a problem where the rear locker wouldn't lock. The compressor would start, but wouldn't shut off and it wouldn't lock.
I tried to contact Chip at OX, but he was at Jeep Beach in Daytona, so I just ordered a new "piston". When he got back to me, he said to try to lock and unlock manually and spray some WD40 in there. I could get it to lock and unlock manually, but when I tried it again with air, it did the same thing.
When you take the OX diff cover off, the shift fork is attached to the piston, which is attached to the diff cover. It all moved freely. Since I had the new piston and it came with a new o-ring, I just replaced the piston. After I buttoned it up, it worked fine.
Basically I was getting blow by the piston o-ring. Chip said that I should periodically engage the lockers to avoid that problem. This makes sense, it's 2 years since my spine surgery and wheeling has been sparse.
I really didn't need the piston, just a 30 cent o-ring. I'm going to buy some of those to keep on hand and maybe replace it when I replace diff fluid.
What is nice with OX is that I can lock the locker using the "Drive Away Lock" to get off the trail the issue is that if I want to unlock it, I have to get under the Jeep.
This is a non-issue with the manual Cable actuation system.
