Looking at new 33's and will be changing from 31x10.5x15... should I stay with the 10.5 size or go with 12.5? Any thoughts here. No plans on being a mudder - not that there is anything wrong with that.

Keep in mind it is a 4 banger - so rolling weight is an issue - I think!

Skinny tires work for me. 235-85-16 = ~ 32x9.5
Tires are nearly indestructible too. Max pressure 80 psi. load range E

interesting point, in some instances the wider tire is better, I'm running 32x9.5's now (swamper tsl's), and they are great for some things, but....get off camber and you get to feeling a bit tippy much sooner, the tall narrow tire seems to "roll" or flex sideway easier, even though I like the traction on rocks,(more psi on the contact patch) it can leave you in some tippy , uncomfortable spots where it might not seem like such a big deal with a wider tire...just my purely unscientific, inexperienced thoughts on the whole pizza cutter experience.(so far at least) 8)

I have run 33 12.5's on my 4 popper YJ for the last 8 years and they're fine. My question to you is, are you planning to re-gear your 4 cylinder rig, or are you just adding 33's? If you're not re-gearing, your trail performance will degrade.

As far as wide vs. thin go, I think that debate will go on forever.
I personally like wide. I only like the pizza cutter look on resto rigs like my '59 CJ5 or military rigs (or maybe a "Willys" TJ, that would be cool too). I guess in the end it's up to you!

35x10.5 boggers, love them. used to run 33x12.5 swampas, they stuck out past fenders. not so good w/ the police.

Can I get a 12.50" tire on a 8' wheel? _ everything I see calls for a 8.5" as a min wheel size?

Also - any of you 33" or biger folks that are running 10.50's would you post a pic so I can see how they look?

I've been runing 33x12.5-15's on 15x8's on my 4 cylinder TJ for a year. Let's face it, we're going be slow on the highway, no matter how skinny or wide our tires are. I can run 65 all day long, which I have learned to life with. Put the most tire you can handle under your Jeep and have fun!

BTW, with 15x8's, I can easily air down my MT/R's to the 8-10 psi range with no problems.

Holy skidder tire, Batman! I'm running 33x10.5 and I thought they looked skinny. Tell ya what though...they kick A$$!
