Please let me know if this has happened to you. This eveining I was driving my jeep home from a friends house and i went to slow down and I took my foot off the gas, When I went to push the brake the gas pedal flooered its self and took off, luckly no one was in front of me and nothing happened, but it did it two differnt times this evening and I was wondering if any one else has had this problem and if they know a way to fix it please let me know. Thank you...My jeep is a 1990 XJ...lifted 31's

i drove the jeep some More today and I found out that the gas pedal floors itself once I hit 30 and it keeps going at least until 45...that's all i could do on the public back road streets. once i slow down though under 30 its fine. does any one have this problem or no how to help me fix it...please let me know

thank you guys so much you are a huge help...i appreciate it a ton. the pedal actually sticks to the floor and i have to put it in to neutral and it yes revs to 3500 rpms....thank you ill go look at it right now

My XJ did that also, I just turned it off and restarted it. Most of the time this took care of it.

One would think the IAC motor would cause this and not the TPS, but oh well. If thats what fixed it for y'all, that works I guess.

again guys i couldn't be more appreccitive...thank you very much..i seemed to have fixed the problem myself by wd-40ing the gas cable, but i will def check out the tbs thanks

After re-reading the real problem in the post, yeah I would certainly look into why the gas pedal is sticking instead of all the other stuff first. :rotflmao:

Using WD-40 may be a temp fix.  I would just replace the cable.  I would want to make sure that when I let off the gas it doesn't stick.  I doubt that a Jeep replacement part would not be all that much and then you would have the piece of mind.

Just my  :2cents:

thanks Bruce, i am bringing it to get that piece fixed this morning or at least get and apt to fix it, thanks everyone else to for your help.

ummm.  don't pay anybody to replace either the TPS or the throttle cable.  THey are both extremely easy to do.
