JKS Quicker Disconnects & Harbor Freight Ball Joint Tool

I installed a set of JKS Quicker Disconnects on the XJ. The installation is really easy. The toughest part was getting the stock pressed-in studs out. I've read nightmare stories about getting these things out. All sorts of banging, cutting, grinding, torching, etc. I also read about using make shift presses and thats the way I decided to go using the Harbor Freight Ball Joint tool. The passenger side was the worst. The tool just barely fit because of the track bar, etc., and I had to use a big socket to have enough to press against. I cranked the heck out of it and it wouldn't budge. Finally, BANG! It popped out. The driver side pressed out, smooth like buttah.

very cool, now lets wheel it....

see, damn the imported Harbor Freight tool...  cost nothing but does everything...

mad props to the HFBT......  (Harbor Freight Ball-joint Tool)  :rotflmao:

Ditto! Used it for about 12 U-joints so far (including yours GorillaSkater:wink:)  HFBT rocks!

VERY GLAD I finally found this topic. I knew there had to be one in here. Anyhow, where can I find this savior :Tools: tool. I attempted to install my quickers today on my TJ but couldn't seperate the links from the sway bar. Good thing I was able to rent the useless tie rod tool and not have to buy it.

The tie rod tool should work too- that's how I got mine off.  It was only $14

Here's the link for the ball joint press:

Did you have your axle hanging when you got it to split? It seemed a bit shakey to try but it was the only thing I didn't attempt. I had the bottom of the link loose as well as connected. All I've accomplished is tearing the boot on the link. Probably best bet is to find the Harbor.
