Knock, knock.....

Something is knocking under my hood; does it with the engine on or off .   When I step on the forward portion of the Drop kick and bounce the Jeep side to side I get a knocking sound from down under the engine area.  Yea, I know, don't bounce the Jeep side to side and it wont do that..... (Its not the Drop Kick).  I first noticed the sound driving on a dirt forest road after the snow storm.  It sounds like something is loose (obviously) and with the rocking of the Jeep it is hitting against something.  I checked, briefly, and cant find anything obviously loose.

What does a broken engine mount sound like???      Any ideas before I take it in to the dealer???

Check your shocks and mounts....after that, no idea, damn TJs. :mad02:

Check your sway bar.  After disconnecting it at Coy, it sometimes shifts side to side.  Klank had a good one this summer.  Every time he hit a bump in the road, sparks shot from the right side of his jeep.  Common occurance.  Check that first.  If it is shifted, bang it back center with a hammer.  Other than that, "You're gonna have to drop it off."  --My former boss.

Check the track bar too.  That's where my knocking sound was coming from a few weeks ago.

Hey thanks for the advise guys; and those of you with your sarcastic comments .  I'll try checking the track and sway bars during the week.  I should have thought of that, it makes sense.  If I don't have any luck I might take Frank up on his gracious offer of Bruce's heated garage on Sunday... :lol:  Either way Frank, I'll drop the tape off this Sunday as there is some good footage of you and others from Coy.  I would post it on-line but it is an 8mm tape......my video skills match my mechanical ability....

Sounds a lot like a swaybar to me too.  I had a loose one a few months ago, same noise when moving the jeep side to side.
