I am putting the leaf springs under the chassis this weekend. I have Rancho Wagoneer 2.5" lift springs.

Which end of the front and rear springs should face forward?

Thanks,
Chip

2.5" spring over! :smt041 WhooHoo! Monster truck  Monster truck.

Run the short side towards the tub, long side to thefront for stock location. or long side to the tub if you want to run you axle 2" foward

For the rears it is the same Short side to the frame for stock, long side to the frame for 2" extension

I think i have the right.

2.5" waggy springs will give about 4" of lift on a CJ

That with SOA and full size chevy axles...yee haw!

You should be able to clear 42-44" tires with almost no problem
I believe this is Full Widths, Waggy springs, 42" tires

I am hoping to go to 38" Swampers next season...I keep telling the wife she will need a step ladder...the bigger the better!

chip...

put the shorts sides away form the center. the extra wheelbase will be key. steering should be fine in the front bt you will have to be careful about gas tank clearance in the rear.

I'm with Jon on this one. I never thought a measly 3 inches would make a difference, put after stretching the CJ, i'd never go back. I threw the gas tank up in the rear seat area to clear the rear diff.

i would agree, extend the wheel base. I know i am at least extending the rear of mine. Will most likely extend the front as well. I am even debating on putting XJ springs in the rear, to offset the rear axle 6" backl

I think I know what you are all talking about...i.e. I should measure from the center bolt in the spring pack out to the eyes. Take the shorter end and put that attached to the rear shackle or the front main eye (I am doing an SRS at the same time)

About the gas tank...I hadn't even thought about that. I have a nice Kilby tank skid that I wanted to keep and use, will I then have trouble with that and the 14 bolt?

If you move the rear axle back, you will definatly have problems with the Gas Tank. If you leave it in the stock location you should be able to clear it.

If you're going SRS, you DEFINATELY want to move the front axle forward. You will only loose wheelbase as the suspension compresses, and the tire will head for the tub.

chip... post this over on neow, I know a few people are runnign 14bolt rears in CJs...

one could tell you if they had any clearance issues.

Thats one BIG axle
