My roomates jeep is also leaking around where the driveshaft goes into it.  Quadratec has a reabuild kit that replaces all the seals, etc on the diff.  is that pretty easy or shouold I just have her go see Pete over at ct axle?

Pinion seal leaking?
Very common problem on D35's, easy to replace too if you know how to do it.

Take it to any mechanic if you want, it's not real expensive to fix.

Definitely the pinion seal. If it's not spewing, make sure the fluid level is good and you could get by. If there's a lot of fresh, dripping oil- yeah, it need to be replaced.

It's not hard to do in the driveway, you just need a good diagram of the differential/ring&pinion and the right torque settings. Basically, you're unbolting the rear driveshaft from the rear axle pinion yoke, removing the yoke, prying out the pinion seal, installing a new one and putting eveything back together again. It's a lot easier to when the pinion is out- but it doesn't come out that end of the axle housing!

Yup.
I just picked up my tow rig from ct axle earlier this week.
He regeared the rear axle for me. Great work as usual.

Pete - go see Pete at CT Axle -
Just picked up Holly's KJ tonight after he installed an ARB for an really reasonable price.  BTW I think he gives NEJeep members a discount on labor

Mark - we checked out your 'Burban while we were there- NICE tow rig!  :applaud:- you should have gone 4.56's!

wooooooooooooooooo  hoooooooooooooooo

Holly got a ARB......

Boys beware....  with the ARB she will be walking right by all you open guys...  way to go SisterDot.

The 35 uses a crush shim (if memory serves)...  not the funnest seal to change...  I would talk to Pete...  did someone already say that?  :rotflmao:

So you guys are being a little vague but I think that your implying that I should go see Pete.

I don't have (or want) overdrive so I went with the 4.10's. Yesterday's test run with the trailer tells me that I'm way underpowered with the current engine.  :frown:
Looks like I'll have to throw more power at it. Just started exploring the options, but I aleady have my eye on a nice injected 383 stroker motor.

Forget the little engines go big block

A stock big block will easily out pull that little motor.  No matter what it makes for hp, torque is what you want.

can you say 454

Though a blown 350 could be interesting
