I noticed my rear diff. was leaking at the seal to the driveshaft the other day. Is this a pain to replace? Can I get this at the dealership? I was thinking of replacing it this weekend but I didn't know if I needed any special tools or if I can just pull the driveshaft out of the diff. and replace the seal. Who knows? Thanks

you just detach the driveshaft from the axle yoke. pull the nut off, a monkey wrench and a impact or breaker bar really help this.. and then pull of the yoke. then you can pull the seal. You will need to really mangle it to get it out, but thats fine.

jUst make sure to check for no play in the pinion bearings: a leaky seal can be the first sign of a problem.

You mangle the hell out the old seal but this tool here really helps to get it out.

Also a really large socket which fits the diameter of the seal along with a hammer will help for installing the new seal. They don't go back in easy, at least not any Dana 35 I've ever seen.
