Anyone know how I can determine if I have a limited slip rear in my XJ?
It's a 2000 with 3.55 gears and the 8.25 rear. Not sure if it was an option or not, or how to determine if I have one.

jack it up and see if tires rotate in same direction when spun by hand.
That might only work with certain ltd. slips...my Rubi rear (ltd. slip when unlocked) does not rotate the tires in the same direction unless the locker is on.

there should be a tag on the rear cover,it may say limited slip or add posi fluid. another tag on the cover should have a 6 digit # followed by a - and then a single digit #. call dealer with # they should be able to tell you.

The Ruby is dual action - limited slip until the air locker is engaged - then full lock up.

I'd just take of the diff cover and look at the diff. If it's open, you'll just see the spider gears and cross-pin. If it's trac-schlock, you see the clutch pack right in the middle.
