so...im coming back from Pittsfield yesterday in my worktruck(CDL) ...headed back on 91S thru springfield and right where the 45mph speed trap is i set cruise control to 47mph....and once i get through the turns and headed on staightaway towards CT border i see the sign for 65 mph speed limit so i start to accelerate mind you theres cars and trucks flying by me and the next thing you know, i see the all to familiar red and blue lights behind me...wtf...so he pulls me over and tells me im speeding ...said i was doing 60 in 45....then he tells me hes gonna check my logbook which i dont even need due to the fact that im inside the 100 mile birds eye radius of my terminal...so he comes back and tells me hes putting me out of service for not carrying my logbook(which i dont need)...apparently i didnt write the words day off on my logbook...unbelieveable!

so next thing you know he hands me a ticket for 185.00 and has truck towed without giving me the oppty. to call dispatch...and then he tells me i have to get off the highway(physically)...i was like holy crap!..he says he clocked me doing 60 on LIDAR from 537ft...is that even possible in heavy traffic while in motion?

and then to make matters worse my fucking job has suspended me with no explanation as to why!

any advice from anyone?

anyone hiring? cus i could potentially lose my job over this...even though ive never had a ticketable offense in over 18 years

dude! I know the spot and that's fucking bullshit. try to talk to someone at work your manager or HR or somebody about it and quick. the worse part at the moment is you are put into the guilty category without even being able to defend yourself over it.

good luck man

my job has suspended me  and is refusing to talk to me ...i am so sick of this its not even funny i have almost a million accident free miles and have showed up everyday and their failure to give me an electronic logbook like their other drivers has resulted in me being destroyed over a technicality...unbelieveable

ok talked to a traffic guy at work. im assuming the red and blue is a euphemism If memory serves me mass state is all blue, unless it was like a local on a state road (watch out travelling through Windsor locks, its not the staties pulling people over (and yes locals can ticket on a highway (and most of the ticket money goes to the state not locality))). he says yes the LIDAR can ping you at 537ft in heavy traffic. his only advice is to fight the ticket.

The 100 mile radius is only if you are within the same state. If you cross the state line you need a log book. However, if you picked the vehicle up in Mass, and was driving it back to CT, you would be covered under the 100 miles rule because you did not cross the state line (out of state) with the comercial vehicle.

This is how it was explained to me at the bus company I work for.

so what should my defense be?

Ummm good question glad you asked....

Sometimes you show up to court show you have an impeccable driving history and how this incident (at least being caught) is out of the norm. Sometimes (in ct) just showing up and saying sorry will get a nollie or a reduction in charge. (Example I had several years ago had a reckless driving charge it was bullshit I was doing 83 the trooper insisted I was we'll over 120 because he had to catch up to me truth be told he didn't want to respond to an accident that had almost gotten me as well (a coke truck and a compact car merged into the same lane in front of me the cars bumper flew over my car and they both careened into opposite jersey barriers leaving the lane clear for me to haul ass through so I wouldn't hit when they careened into each other again after bouncing off the barriers. Anyway the judge dropped it to a not obeying a posted sign and I had to pay $50

If you can get a nollie or a reduction the company should be more forgiving except they might be holding a bit of a grudge over the towing fees. Unless you work for a fed ex or ups you should be ok. If you do and you have union representation you'd better get on the phone with them ASAP.

Just pray you don't get a hanging judge.

Most Co. now have GPS in the vehicle for a reduction in insurance . See if yours does and it will prove you weren't speeding. As for the log book , Thats Co. policy and should have supplied your vehicle  with one.  I went to court in Danbury for a speeding ticket at 3:14 am for 73mph in a 65. You see the prosecutor before the judge . When he read the ticket , he asked about my driving history , to which I replied 46 yrs. Ticket and accident free. He said have a nice day. Id go to court and talk to the prosecutor. Cant believe your Co. wont talk to you. That suks the big one.  Good luck.  I do have a plaque from NTAA for 1 mill Mi. FjR68
