Mig Welder

What do you guys think of a Mig welder, all the goodies, like new condition for $400.00?

I'm going to look at it on Saturday, but I'm not a welder so I'm not sure what to look for.

If I'm not interested, are any of you? The guy selling it is a stand up guy so I believe it when he says it's in good condition, just don't know what they go for used.

I'll get more info if I can.

Thanks

No not yet.

That's what I mean, I don't know what I'm looking at because I've never used one. I want to learn so I thought I might pick one up.

I'm going to get a complete description this weekend - model, number, etc. I'll keep you posted.

Yeah, we would need more info, but it's a generally a good idea to buy a good brand name welder. Parts are nearly impossible to find for the off-name brand units. You can't go wrong with names like Miller, Hobart, Lincoln, etc. There are lots of local supply houses that stock parts, and can privide service with service these machines.

I have bought all of my Miller welders and my plasma cutter from CT Airgas on Murphy Rd in Hartford. Great service, and prices that rival internet pricing without the shipping charges. I'd recommend them if you're ever looking to buy new.

X2. I got my Miller mig machine from them. It was around $450. Cant remember the model number right now. The first thing I built with it was a welder cart.

Mines an old Miller 210 got it used for 500 and it works flawlessly I only use CO2 instead of the mix cuz Ima cheapskate  :mad02: Dont waste yer time on 110v welders thats all I can advise.

this is not a hijack but along the same lines.....

will a Mig work as well as a TIG?

I need a welder also...and was looking for info

Unless ya wanna dump a lot a $$$ on a TIG set up and do a lot of stainless and aluminum, MIG is just fine for ya.

That welder IS a 110 and it's in Milford, so I passed on looking at it. Just no time to get out there.

If anyone is interested in purchasing it, I will put you in touch with the guy who's selling it.

Let me know.
