Might be best to avoid Canadian jeeps

I know not many of us here are in the search for a newer jeep vehicle but some one just posted to one of the facebook group pages that their friend was being denied recall work by a dealer because the jeep was a Canadian built jeep sold in the US and the cross border purchase by the dealer voided all warranty and recall work.

Some light digging online shows this is indeed true. The move to void all warranty/recall work was an incentive to not seek out cross border purchases to get them duty free. Of course, most of the instances mentioned include the dealer not mentioning this at the sale.

That is more than a little annoying in that Natasha is Canadian.  She has 77000 miles on her already.  Once I hit 100,000 warranty will matter less.

interesting and deceitful...

Factory should honor and penalize the selling dealership unless there were huge disclaimers the buyer signed off on and not small print buried in a sales contract. Should be a separate rider attached to the sale documentation.

Apparently there is a way to import them and keep the warranty/recall. However, the dealers who are buying them and having them converted to American road ready are doing it quick and dirty.

The warranty part sucks but yeah, most probably void it anyways. but you can't even go in for free recall work. Anything it needs would need to paid for.
