I'm going to need to put a clutch in my TJ by the end of the month. Can anyone reccomend a shop to do it? What can I expect to pay?

Thanks.

Sorry there are not a lot of people posting, a lot of the tech people are already up at the Rally.

It is not so much the shop, but the clutch. A clutch is not to hard to do and can be done even via a wrench fest. When you are doing a clutch, the well reseached best cluch for wheeling is the LUK gold or the Mopar.

I personally would go LUK

Centerforce are more for racing. They have trouble with the feather of wheeling.

If you definetly want a shop, any shop will do it, a dealer will warrenty it but will cost more. I can recommend shops in Old Saybrook, but that is it.

Hope this helps

I'd have to agree with this. Avoid a centerforce or any of the "racing" clutches. They don't like to be slipped a lot. I have personally found that the Original OEM clutch to give the best "feel" out on the trail. I can;t comment on the LUK personally, but have also heard good things about it from those who have run it.

Thanks guys, this is what I was looking for. I need to get the clutch in right after the 1st (once I get paid) and need it done before the 6th because I'm supposed to go out of town. I want to have a shop do it because I don't have anywhere to do it here and hate bringing my Jeep to other people's houses to do work on it. Just feels weird.

Okay, I found a LUK clutch kit for $140 shipped to my door. Does that sound resonable? It's a bunch cheeper than some of the other clutches I was looking at.

Anyone wanna do a wrench fest on Oct. 2nd? I need a place to do it, tool, ect. I'll provide lunch and BEER!

You can do it here if you want. We'll be doing the body swap on chip's rig. Are we still doing the tube fenders the week prior? I might be able to get a buddy of mine to do the clutch and then I'll get started on the fenders. Let me know.

We're going to have to push the tube fenders back 2 weeks. I can't afford to do both. The clutch is about gone, so I really need to do that first. I'll give you a call this week and we can figure something out.

Give my buddy don a call, he does work on the side. I give him work from the hospital all the time. He is an ase mechanic, can travel to work or does it at his house. Hes in new london, works at post road auto as a mechanic. give him a call at 860-625-1492 cell. Id give you his card but cant throught the comp. Later, Bull. Hes donnyg77 on this board. I'll try giving him a call tomorrow during the day. That may work out better for me, I'll have to see when he can fit me in.
