I was looking into aquiring and building a set of 44's front and rear.  however seeing as how I know Shite about fabing, axles, compatability, etc, etc.

I can get a complete super 35 kit which includes ARB air locker for about $1200 for the rear, and a Super 30 kit again including ARB locker for about $1600 for the front.

Ya'll know the trails better than me, but would this all hold up well for a good amount of time with say 34" or 35" sneakers on the rig?  Thinking of going with either 4.56 or 4.88 gearing as well unless someone has other suggestions based on experience  (*No wild opinions based on, " I saw it somewhere", thanks*)

.

The problem with getting new (Used) housings, is I haven't even got an incling of a clue as to what fits from what other vehicles, etc, etc.

I couldn't even weld welding two rods together if I used JBweld to do it, so fabing up new mounts is out for me either.

I know I know, I'm an idiot...

Get a hold of steve, he has a great site for axle housings brand new...as bare as a shell to cmplete built w/ lockers and such.  Its like jeeps warehouse or something.  Bull.

I've got a HP D30 I might sell if the offer is right. Otherwise I'm keeping it for myself.

It will need a full rebuild, but you we're gonna do that anyway right? I know I was.

4.88s are iffy in a D30.  there is only one pinion tooth in contact with the ring gear....i'd say 4.56 is max with the 30, otherwise goodbye gearset.  for the rear, you can spend a few extra bucks for a bolt in 8.8.

Can't comment on the 35, but the front 30 will hold up just fine with good shafts. I beat the tar out of my D30 front with 35's and never had any issues.

did the chrylser 8.25 come in the tj?  It will hold up to a lot more than a dana 35.

Never...it was available on 95' or newer XJ's I believe. And yes it's stronger than a turdy-5
