Need help ASAP

Just emptied the oil out of my pan and went to remove valve cover cap to add the new oil and the cap just spins and wont come off!!

Any advise? I need to have this running by the AM to leave for the trail run :?

Run to the parts store and buy a replacement cap and retrieval magnet before they close for the night.
Put a set of channelocks on the cap and give it a good grip and try removing it. (going in the correct direction of course)
If that doesn't work, you might have to disassemble the cap in pieces to get it off of there. Make sure all the parts are accounted for. If not, go fishing with the magnet to get them out.

Fill the engine with oil, install the new cap. I wouldn't trust the old one even if it comes off ok.

Use to work at the casino with a fleet of XJ's and that happened all the time. The mechanic had a whole shelf of caps for that problem. I told him to buy some billet covers and maybe that would work...I think they are solid. Bull.
