OK folks -

As I move away from stock, I have addressed the underside of the YJ in terms of skids and "kicks" - and now want to add some traction, as a starting point, as I learn what the YJ will or will not do - what is a good place to start for a part time road and part time trail Jeep-

EZ locker? or go straight into a Detroit.........

Help!

Without a doubt...the EZ-Locker.

Why? It's pretty easy to install, No gear setup involved and cost a little less than a Super 35 or 44.

But remember to question the strength and durability of whatever you have for a rear axle first.

Here's a link to where I got my Lock Rite for my D35 for $230.
http://www.rocky-road.com/jeepdrive.html Scroll down a bit to find it. Like the others said, don't throw a ton of cash at your rear end. The Lock Rite does tend to ratchet but it's not that bad and in my opinion, it's the best $230 you can spend on your rear end.

POWER-TRAC......
It's quite, long lasting, simple install, few more bucks...but.......
Dont put money into your D35, unless your going to go full Super 35 with
gears & pro install to get you by for a few years.

I second that.. I had one.

POWER TRAX NO-SLIP
Very nice locker easy install and you will not notice it there untill you are offroad. Usually a little more money than the others but the quality and durability and use of it is worth it.

I spent a good week of constant searching before i went with the Power Trax. very happy with it when i did that.

or you could upgrade to a rubicon, like i did

Thanks for the input - looks like I will start poking around for a Power Trax No Slip.... Would a bribe of Beer and Food convince anyone to lend a hand / advise on the install?

I think we'll have get a "wrench-fest" in order for next month or so...

It's really a pretty easy install, you'll be happy with it.

I've been running my PowerTrax Lock Right for about a year and a half. Now with 33's. LOVE it off road. Sometimes a click or clack turning on pavement if under throttle. All noises are normal. Bonus- full power posi burnouts are a pedal push away!
