ive got an 01 4.0 sitting here as a donor to frankenmotor
does anyone know if it will fit into my 91 xj and bolt up and have the wiring match

well ils for project frankenmotor you think it will work

89 has a different head and manifolds compared to a 91.  That's pre HO for the 89 and HO for the 91.

01 has coil on plug and is OBD II, 91 isn't. The good thing is that all you need to do is swap over the externals (manifolds, sensors, distributor) and it should work fine.

Randy is right. 01 will have Coil Packs and swapping he manifold some brackets will do it as the long blocks really haven't changed.
