today comming home from work the ujoint in the rear driveshaft broke...so i pulled over, pulled off the driveshaft and figured ill just put it in four wheel drive and gimp it the 1/4 mile home...but on the way the four wheel drive stopped working so i was left rolling down the road. i was wondering if anyone may have any suggestion on what may be the problem with my four wheel drive. i have the posi lock cable on my jeep and am thinking that there maybe a chance it came loose so four wheel drive is not ingaugeing.
thanks for any help,
nick

Nick - you seem to have bad luck with rear D-shaft u-joints?   What is this - the 3rd set?  Time for a SYE.  I have my old drive shaft with new u-joints you can use (only a couple of weeks on them before we installed the SYE/Tom Woods).  If your pinion yoke is shot, I have one of those too (not sure if it's an easy swap or it has a crush sleeve).
You may want to order a U-bolt style pinion yoke from Quadratech - it's a bit stronger than the strap type.  The vibes may be backing out the bolts on your strap type pinion yoke and they may be part of the cause of failure of your u-joints

The 4WD is probably an issue with the PosiLock cable being out of adjustment or binding.

I'll give the driveshaft and yoke to Bruce tomorrow night to bring to work Friday

x2.  Check the cable, then check the shift fork.  May even be a bad syncro collar in the front end.  Possibly a broken set of spider gears in the carrier too.  Ask me how I know that one.  Sorry Mandy.

JEEEZZZZE NICK!!!  Where the hell were you on Sunday?!  You missed all the fun with your brothers Jeep!  We had at least 2hrs down time that we could have used to fix yours.  We had to spend it DRINKIN!
