No Shock Boots

Is there any problems with not running shock boots?  I am putting new shocks on, and was thinking of not using them  :question:

I don't use them.
They tend to hold moisture in, and rust the shock rod surface.

I ran my shocks for 5 years without boots.  They are toast now but they still lasted nearly five years.

I only used them cause the colors looked cool. but most they would end up tearing anyway so I dont really see a need for them

I got Orange ones for xmas(my favorite color) but they are like a neon orange  made by daystar, not the color orange i thought they would be....back to quadratec they go  ....and i can't use the red ones on the Rancho's(i hate red)  :shakehead:....so none it is

Ran shock boots for 3 years, I even cut bigger drain holes on the bottom. (cut a V with Dykes) So I set it and forget it, 3 years later, go to get longer ones, and both shocks with boots had plugged drains, full with mud.  Shock housing outside the boot was nice, under the boot was all rusty.  So I saw everyone else without boots so I gave it a shot.  Both front and rear have been almost 2 years, no rust, and the piston is still mint. (that was my biggest worry, piston would get pitted)

I wouldn't know they tore on my CJ the YJ is still running the stock ones till I get my lift and buy new ones
