Friend has an XJ with a 231J, 96 i think, blew his tcase but has a 242 laying around, needs to know asap if he can swap them. im not too sure, anyone know?
They should (and i do say should) have the same 23 spline count. If so, you're good to go. Shifter will be a bit off as the 242 has an extra position in the shift pattern for the part time 4wd.
