On Board Air

With the 90YJ, I'm thinking of OBA. Preferably engine driven. With the 92 4.0L I swapped in, what would work best? Air needs: air up 33's in a reasonable amount of time, run a 1/2" impact wrench continuous (with a 2 gallon tank). I was looking at a stock Sanden horizontal unit, or a York verticle unit. What are my options? Thanks for your input. I plan on having a N2 tank for popping a bead on friends rigs! :smt066

Should have everything you need.

Do you think I'll be able to run an impact gun off a stock Sanden type? I checked out the Kilby site for the York setup and although it puts out more CFM - Its a big project. I can get a Sanden used which bolts up to the 4.0L for about $50. The belt is easy to find. I have a dead 'hotdog' AC compressor which I can rape the pressure switch, tank, and blow-off valve from. Thanks for your input...

I have seen OBA setup with sandens run impacts.

Thats what I will be going with as well, in my jeep. I just put in a 92 4.0. donor had AC, I don't. OBA here i come.

With air tools like imapct guns that blow air through them (as opposed to something like a nailgun that just uses a short burst), you gotta have a decent capacity tank. If you're pump is weak, just make sure your tank is good and full and set the regulator on the high side of what you think you might need to run your tools. But don't exceed the pressure your system was built for...

Ask around up at forum.neow.net, plenty of guys running OBA that could answer the question etter than me.
