I think I want to powder coat my wheels black. Can anyone recommend a place local to do it? What's a fair price to pay?

There is obviously more out there but the only one I can think of is just NW of Waterbury on RT8. two exits up if I remember correctly on the left side heading for Winstead.

Sorry, can't remember the name. Hopefully someone else has been ther more receintly than me.

Essex Motor Sports powder coats........
If you want to insure a good, long lasting finish.....sandblast them 1st.

They are alluminum wheels. If I took them to a powder coating place, would they be able to do the sandblasting for me? I don't have access to anything to do that.

They should be able to... I have never been to a powdercoat place that doesn't have a bead blaster.

if they are aluminum another choice is anondizing. probably more $$$ but gives it a nice finish.

light metals in southington does it.

anodizing usually isn't that expensive. Usually one of the cheaper ways to go. If you look around you can find do it yourself kits.

Just used this company to strip and powder coat my 2 tubular race car chassis a few months ago. Highly recommended. They also do other coatings as well check out their site pretty informative. Good luck!

I called them and they wanted $85 a wheel to powder coat

I'll just put the wheels for sale and buy the black rockcralwer wheels I want.

Anyone need a set of American Racing AR-23's, 15x8, 3.75" of backspacing? I'd sell the 4 for $200.

A good friend of mine of owns a powdercoat shop in New Haven,
Most of the cost in the common colors (blacks, grays) is in the setup and they run black stuff all of the time.

When I got a quote for Frank the Dog we were looking at about 30-35 a wheel and I believe that included sanblasting and a clear coat.

I also remember Marc (my friend) mentioning that they could bring the cost down in volume to near $25.

PM me if you need more info.

John
