Power Loss

Ok, so after putting 33's on with 3.73 gears. I've noticed a little loss in power. Not bad, but noticeable. I still have 5th gear, but have to downshift now and then on some of steeper hills.

I was just wondering if there was some type of inexpensive / temporary fix, that can give me some of the horsepower back, until I can save up to regear.

Maybe a throttle body spacer?

I have 3.07s with a old 6 cy. and 33s. I still can use 5th on the highway if it's flat or down hill. 8)

none of the power adders work all that well.

I have toyed with Poweraid and K&N and T-body spacer and didn't notice enough of a differance to justifie the money spent. Better off just saving for gears.

The Poweraid throttle body spacer is worse than nothing - it claims to add turbulence to the air to enhance fuel mixing - that is so much BS.
You want to minimize turbulence in the intake air in order to get the most air into the engine - Turbulence reduces the amount of air the engine can pull in.

A recent write up in POULAR MECHANICS about fuel enhancing gizmos like this actually showed a significant reduction in power.

Turbocharger!!!!!!

I agree with them that the cheapest adder is gears. Next build up your engine. Cam, intake, headers etc. If you don't change the cam you won't get much no matter what you do.

Though a used supercharger from a thunderbird or park ave could be used with enough adapters and ingenuity. They are the right size for a 4.0 and could be slowed down to work with a four.
