Product Review - Gabriel Max Control Shocks

I just put a set of these on my 1999 Dodge Ram 2500. I bought this rig to tow the Jeep and the it had the original stock shocks. The shields were all rusted out, but the rear shocks were OK, the fronts were wasted.

The Gabriel Max Controls are a monotube shock, and are basically Gabriel's cheap version of Bilsteins. They are only about $50 each on Amazon. The rears came in first, and the friggin' mounting ends didn't fit. After messing with it, and trying to press in and press out different sleeves, I checked the Gabriel site and basically the part number was correct, but the wrong part number was in the box.

Since I had it apart, I didn't want to wait for a return from Amazon, I picked them up at Autozone. They were more $59 ea, but were the right part. The fronts came in from Amazon the next day, and went in perfectly.

I can't say that they are just as good as Bilsteins, but for about $200 all the way around, with a lifetime warranty, they are working great. The ride is firmer but the body roll and nose diving is gone.
