Looks like its all too tight.  One good hit anywhere on that steering and you'll have some binding.  Don't care how much "Beef" you put in the brackets, rocks will win...

But then again, I know nothing....

Im glad youve finally realized this.....

Tight is tight and too tight is bound up

Time will tell, that's for sure. As it is everything clears and nothing binds. And in 2 years I have yet to bend this tie rod. Hit it plenty of times, but never bent. When it does, I'll deal with it. It does look like I'll probably want to get a taller coil spring. And maybe add one more puck to my bumpstops.

You beat me to it lol

I’m a fan of beefy bendy when it comes to tie rods

Mounted the cooler, ran the rest of my lines, bled the system, and took it for a test drive. It drives amazing. I’ll pull it apart and put the axle side in double shear this weekend and paint the tie rod. Just about finished with this poor little dana 30.

Guess this haven’t been updated in a while. Granted I didn’t do much to the Jeep last year.

Got the spare tire mounted and sitting on the box. I only plan to have it with me when I’m wheeling, so the rest of the time I’ll be able to see out the rear hatch.

After taking the Jeep out with the new tires and wheels, my tires are starting to get into the battery box area under the hood. I trimmed the front fenders so there’s no longer a risk of cutting a tire, but I think I want to do some sheet metal work to keep the tire out of the matter box, which involves moving the battery.

With the tire stuffed and turning left, the tire gets into the box here. You can see after only one wheeling trip I have a big dent there now.

The easy solution would be to run some extra bumpstop. But I’ve worked pretty hard to be able to utilize the full 12” of travel in my front shocks. I’d rather not go backwards.

For those not familiar with the XJ engine compartment layout, the battery lives on the passenger side at the front of the engine compartment.

So it needs to move to gain clearance in the front fender area.

Who here has relocated their battery? I’m thinking it should go in a sealed box. Likely behind the back seat. I’d want to run pretty large battery cables and would need a distribution block under the hood.

why not just modify the sheet metal and lift the battery up, there is a bit of room from the hood to the top of the battery

The radiator hose runs over the corner of the battery. I can’t raise the battery and still run a radiator hose, which I’m told is mildly important.

In its current arrangement, the radiator hose already makes physical contact with the battery, which is why it has the plastic sleeve over it in the area of the battery.

So interestingly enough, I looked at those for the willys, they don't handle the load of a winch very well from what ive read when it comes to buggies using them

I was wondering how they handled heavy loads. Started looking at them with the idea they would be easier to do a double battery setup stopped when I saw price.
