Project Silver XJ

A new slip joint rebalance and paint the shaft again is going to cost almost as much as a new driveshaft.

And yes I know Tom can cut this and machine it and get it back together, but with the amount of highway driving I do, I want a balanced driveshaft. And at the rates my local driveshaft shop charges, it’s better for me to just order a shaft from Adam’s and Tom Woods.

Installed hood vents on the XJ on Saturday morning. Big thanks to Alan for sending me these a year or two ago. After looking at the forecast for Sunday and seeing over 80 degrees and humid, I just figured it was time.

When we were out in the woods yesterday, there was definitely some heat rising out of them. Later this summer when it gets good and hot I’ll know if they eliminated the heat soak issue that all of the 00-01 XJ’s have.

You could go new school old school and borrow my dimple dies. The look is a little different, the result is mostly the same.
