Pulling?

A friend of mine at the office just bought a 92 YJ.  I took it for a ride yesterday and it had a pull to the left on acceleration and a pull to the right on deceleration.  It looks to have a Rough Country lift around 3 or 4 inches and 32 inch tires.

Is this an alignment problem or something loose in the front end.

I have had this same issue on other vehicles as well- it can be a ceased brake caliper. Signs of this are a burning brake shoe/pad smell and the wheel on the caliper in question getting abnormally hot/warm.

So yeah- pull off the wheels and check the brakes and look for odd tire wear indicating bad alignment (toe)

Toe issues won't cause a pull.  The tires will always center themselves.  I would check the spring mounts at the axles first.  Sounds like something is shifting.  Check the center pins in the spring packs.

a sticky caliper/siezed caliper slides would cause a pull only in one direction. if it has a lift, i'd bet that there is a bracket flopping around, or a spring eye/track bar bolt. also check the u-bolts...one side may be loose.

Sticky caliper eh?

I'll let him know to check that.  Brakes were just done before he picked it up.  Maybe a bad brake job.

Thanks All!
