I could use a little help here...

I am planning on putting a 14 bolt rear into the new Jeep. My AMC20 has a 2" offset to the drivers side (i.e. housing to backing plate drivers side = 16" and housing to backing plate pass side = 18")

If the housing on the 14bolt is centered (as I think that it is) will this pose any problems for installation and use?

Thanks,
Chip

It shouldn't cause any problems at all, in fact thats better than the old AMC 20 setup.

Just make sure you get it centered under the Jeep the right way.

What transfer case are you planning on running??

Did it originally have the Quadratrac?

Is this a CJ-7 we are talking about?

Is the 14 Bolt Pinion longer than the AMC 20?
If it's a CJ-7 and you plan on keeping the Quadratrac, Yes, you might have some binding issues, particularly if the 14 Bolt pinion is longer than the M20, this will shorten your drive shaft and over-accentuate the offset of the transfer case from the axle. 2" doesn't seem like a lot but, they used the offset axle for a reason, to avoid the side to side binding.
