I have a 2000 Jeep Wrangler Sport, 6 Cylinder, Stick, 4.0, and it has 110810 miles on it, would it be possible to put a rubicon transmission into my jeep?

You should really think about upgrading to a NV3500 or a NV4500 (hefty), probably cheaper and will bolt right in as well. The 6 speed tranny in the wranglers aren't geared correctly for anything. 1st gear is too tall and 6th isn't short enough.. people are complaining that their vehicles don't feel like earlier jeeps due to this.

IF your rig is for wheelin.. go with a 4spd auto.. now that would be a complicated swap.

As for the NP241 (transfer case) you are looking at 2 grand or so for that if you buy it new, maybe more.. and similiar for a used one.

Mandy, what is the problem with yours? Just the noise? Is it giving you trouble shifting, does it grind?

Have you changed the fluid?

Give me some more details...

i wanna say it was a change from 01-02... i could be wrong.

If you do have the 3500, then upgrade to a 4500.

Oh yeah by the way... that noise is normal

While the NV4500 does have the same bolt pattern on the Tcase and bellhousing ends, it is by no means a bolt in transmission swap.
The NV4500 is much longer - replace both driveshafts
Much taller - body lift and tcase drop to fit it
Custom mount for the transmission - does not mount in the factory AX15 location
New holes in the floorpan for the tcase shifter
1st gear is 5.61:1, so don't plan on using 1st gear on the street with tires smaller than about 37"
Zach is right about the NSG 370 first gear, it is even taller, 6.29:1 - that will give you about a 2 - 3 mph max speed in 1st gear. youll need to shift again befor the clutch has engaged all the way.

NV4500 gear ratios
First Gear 5.61
Second Gear 3.04
Third Gear 1.67
Fourth Gear 1.00
Fifth Gear 0.73
Reverse 5.61

Your Jeep came with a NV3550 - it's plenty strong, just do a swap if you need to.

NV3550 gear ratios
First Gear 4.01
Second Gear 2.33
Third Gear 1.39
Fourth Gear 1.00
Fifth Gear 0.78
Reverse 3.57

there is ALOT of grinding and I have to force it into 1st gear every time I use it, and theres a huge knocking sound coming from the something I dont know what though. If one of you guys has some free time would you be able to help me by looking at it for me? It would be great. Thank you for all you feedback.
