reciever hitch on a YJ

I was if anyone has one on their YJ's and where the easiest place to get them is. Also are they a pain to install? Thanks

where's the best place to get them? I want to get a solid rear bumper anyway but how much tongue weight can you put on the bumper ones?

i would suggest no more than the suggested weight for stock.. maybe even a little less depending if the bumper is mounted solidly to the frame or not but no more.

if you get a hitch that is not in the bumper, like the Reese type, it will ruin your rear clearance, and you will end up hitting it on everything.  It will drive you nuts,

as for towing, I have a crappy Warn rear bumper, and even though they dont have the specs, I tow everything I would if I had a Reese type hitch.  You will find that you cant tow more than specs, and if you do, the springs will sag, and your brakes wont stop you.....

There's a guy in North Brandford that sells top quality bumpers with everything you'd every want.  Check the top of the this website for his link, he sponsors the website and it isn't CTAXLE.  Give him a call.

right to the frame in the rear...there is a plate on mine that i bolted through

On the YJ - most aftermarket bumpers bolt to the 8 factory holes that mount the original "bumperets"
Quality aftermarket bumpers use those 8 mounting holes plus the two metric factory mounts under the rear crossmember.

Thanks! on Detours site, is there any way to look at products for a YJ? I only was looking at the XJ stuff or does he just make the same bumpers for everything? Thanks again everyone

Just look under Detours "Custom Fabrication" link.

He does other than XJ stuff (when he has time  )
