Hey does anyone know a rough estimate on a gear set up ??  Im poss getting a hp30 that I would want gears set up in, and a d44 that has no gears now , both would be 4.56's.  I know I should call pete, but I was just curious if anyone had a real rough figure so I could seal this deal soon if I cant talk to him.  Both axles would be brought in, not on my jeep yet, Id put them on the tj myself....with a little help from my friends......thanks, Bull.

probably no help at all....i did a 9" and a d44 for about $150 each, but that was also converting them to big bearing&posi. that was also 2 years ago....and the cost of living has gone up......

Im doing tht exact swap Bull. But I have to Weld all the Brackets on the 44 so ...My cost will be more.As for Price Im no help cuz I havent done it yet. :confused:But When the time Comes I'll help ya out.

dude aren't you the king of web searches?

setup kit - $100/ea

gears - $175/ea

What gears are in there now?  you may need new carriers  (more $$$)  or go with lockers (even more $$$)

and thats all assuming you setup the gears yourself.

There are other shops too.  I know, not all of them are NEJeep sponsors.  They are local wheelers, just trying to feed their families too.

You could call them, they might beat Pete's prices.

real rough pricing I got from a few different local gear shops, which I then confirmed to be about average from googling are:

gear set (ring and pinion) ~ $150
install kit ~ $100
detroit locker ~ $400-$600
labor ~ $300

First, yes I am the king of the search.  I do know parts cost's, I really meant to ask labor wise sorry.  Just trying to see if I could get it done in one shot if I got this axle which I dont think I will now for some reasons.  I might go bare bone rear and build slow, do the front now since I can get the hp 30 for free.  Either way thanks everyone for the help.  Bull.

Not quite, but I'll let you believe it, for now.  A few of us have found things ONLINE, that you were asking for!

Not flaming, by the way, just a reality check.
