Not sure what I got for sat, but if I can go I got my header to install, unless its too much. Let me know.  Bull.

yuor house frank?...might try to stop bye to try and learn a few new things

We're trying to get my steering colunm done but I also have a huge issue with my rear main seal.

If anyone knows how to replace the rear main seal on a 91YJ, I could use your help.  Will only be doing the seal if we have someone that can guide me through this cause I'm mechanically dumb

Frank/Bruce...  Thanx guys!!!  Much appreciated!!!

Hmmm, what's the time frame here? Maybe I can get my steering box bolted up the right way.

If your real good.......that rear main seal can be done in 3 hrs. in a lifted jeep :grinyes:
or well atleast thats the best time I've been able to do them in....

I think you can just about sit up under Marty's Jeep.  No problem with the axle interfering with dropping the pan!

Andrew, I believe it's a 1 piece seal - unfortunately -I'm not sure I'd wan't to tackle it this weekend on top of the other projects.  3hrs maybe - but our last few projects have gone way longer than expected.   (hate to have a YJ stranded by incomplete wrenchin' towed home by AAA  :mad02:  )  I think we will just diagnose the leak this weekend (could be a valve cover leak) and tackle that project another day.  That being said - if you want to stop by to help - we are in Columbia, CT - PM me for directions
Frank

4.0's have two piece main seals.  You drop the pan and the last main cap to change them.  You'll want a piece of brass rod to push out the top piece.  A piece of brass or aluminum (no steel, don't even think about it!) threaded rod works fine.  Needs to be a few inches long at least (small diameter, like a 10-32 thread or smaller).  I'm going to try to make it and bring my threaded rod if I can find it.  Otherwise ace etc might have it.

Done one on my old jeep and a few on other cars.

I'm hoping to get my welding done before hand.  Otherwise the jeep isn't safe to drive.  The main seal is a relatively easy job you just have to be careful with the main cap.  Takes more time to drop and reinstall the pan.

Need a torque wrench to torque up the main cap when your done too.

Thank you so much guys - Bernie, Frank and Bruce   Rear main seal is replaced and we have low beams and...

please sit down...

WINDSHIELD WIPERS  :rotflmao:

Dont forget about Turn Signals   (well - at least 3 out of 4 ) - don't forget to get the second flasher relay for the hazards - never know when you'll be stuck on the side of the road

It was a fun time.  We were going to postpone the rear main seal for another day - but Bernie and Bruce decided since it was only 3:30PM -and we're here - might as well.  Quick parts run for pan gasket, and more important -Oil!.  Detour was right - just around 3hrs.

Sorry guys I had to leave before the pan got re-installed - hope you finished the remaining beer

Marty - thanks for the the Magic Hat #9 (I may have to grab any remaining soldiers tomorrow afternoon )

very cool for Marty...  glad you guys got everything working.  No more pull cord wipers.

Sorry I could not help, had to work today....

Marty - I'll give you the other rear shock when I get around to cutting it off the axle and welding my new shock mounts on.  After driving around for a month or so with no right rear shock - I don't feel anything different
