Spare Tire.

Ok, here's my dilemma. I have a Yakima bike rack that is designed to swing away, so that you can open the tailgate. The problem is that since I put larger rubber on, it hits the rack as you try to open the tailgate. So i bought on of those braket things the moves the tire up. But it also moves it out, away from those rubber isolator bumpers.

Any ideas on how to extend those bumpers? A cost effective way??

I went to A Rite Auto salvage jeep yard and bought the rubber stoppers from a few rigs on the lot. I used a table saw to trim the rounded portions off the topand bought longer bolts. I now have extended rubber supports.

Where's Rite Auto?
I though of that idea but when I called all the salvage yard in the New Haven area, none of them had any YJs or TJs in their yards. And the local dealership had 1 in stock.

I figured I would need 9 to make it happen.

Ive got a couple of those bumpers at the shop.....swing in.

Thanks Detour.

Like i said above, I need about 9 of those bumpers to make up the distance. If you think you have enough, I'll swing by.

Sweet... Thanks.

Maybe I'll swing by after work. Since it's a stone's throw away.

What time you there til?
