i saw BIG's post about sound systems and it reminded to post. does anybody in this club do system installs on the cheap? i have a pioneer head unit, boston acoustic 6" rounds for the sound bar and an amp that i want to put under the passenger seat in my XJ. if you're up for it, i am also looking to find a place up front for some small speakers. i want to make my doors removable and want something like some 3.5"s up front for when i take them off. i was thinking in the dash somewhere. thanks,

I would rethink the underseat amp idea. I have a Sony 75 Watt under my pass seat in a 2000 XJ. It is small, but it still doesn't really fit. I couldn't bolt it down. And now the seat cannot be moved. It is also being forever kicked by rear seat passengers. I have my 10" tube behind the passenger seat just to protect the amp. I will soon be moving it to under the rear seat and installing a rear mounted sub box, just trying to find one that is narrow enough for my liking. I think under the rear seat would be your best bet. Especially if you carry passengers.

that's a pretty good idea too. i'll take some measurements and see how it fits in each before a final decision. thanks for the input donny.

It's really not too hard to do it all yourself. If you have a quality headunit, just buy a good set of front and rear speakers. I have Infinity Kappa 4x6's in the dash and 6.5's in the soundbar. Make a HUGE difference and installing took only a couple of hours. If you buy from Crutchfield, they give you detailed instructions on how to instal everything too!
