Stripped door hinge torx bolt

So I got some half doors and replaced the hinge pins, one was broken and they were worn anyway.

Any way I hung the door on the jeep and the hinges needed adjustment to close the door properly, loosened two of the three torx bolts and the third stripped, so torx is no longer an option

So question is how do you guys with these rusty TJ's get the bolt out once it's stripped ?

Drill and easy out, or drill the head off and remove hinge and then use some vice grips on the stub that's left  or is there some other trick?

My go to has always been heat on the YJ, but you need enough that will burn the paint.

For the stripped torx, I try and hit it with an air chisel, straight into the bolt to try and loosen the rust.

Going forward one of these could be really helpful...

I have this gadget that works with an air chisel that you could try

Lots of flame and sparks ideas...lol

I'll try the air chisel idea first and see if that will break it loose then if that doesn't work I'll try the other implements of destruction ideas

Need to stock up on a different shade of red paint now for the LJ, kind of matches international harvester red from tractor supply

Could you try and tack weld a grade 8 both into the stripped hole.  A couple tacks with the mig shouldn't do too much damage and still get some heat on the stuck threads.

I used the air chisel idea and it worked, Thanks WW

Had a total of 6 stuck bolts that I had to chisel out.

Thanks for the offer Frank, looks like a good tool to have so I ordered one for my self

Now to find some new replacement torx bolts

you don't need Torx head bolts to replace them, simple  stainless metric hex head , or 45 tapered or socket head bolt 10mm or maybe 8mm I'll check tomorrow

I just got these off Amazon, USA made grade 8!
