when i bought my 03 Rubicon, the salesguy told me it had the upgraded sound system with the subwoofer, but it didn't.  The rest of the speakers won't be a problem to upgrade, and i'm pretty sure I know what i'm going with.  Now the subwoofer, I can buy the OEM one off of ebay, and they have the diagram of how it gets wired, but the wiring is not included.  Anyone know what i would need for wiring, where it is run, etc, etc?  Anyone ever take there console off and take a look?

HOw deep is your center concsol? with the sub you only get about 6 inches of depth there, you will also notice right next to the drivers seat on the center consol slits in the plastic... if they are there, you have a sub, if not, no.

as for how it is wired, i have no idea..... i would upgrade the stock unit to something a little nicer and run a small amp to it, do all the wiring under the consol.

the console is very deep...but it also has the slits on the drivers seat side, with screws in it.  The salesguy told me that he thought if it had the speaker screen with th slits, that it has a subwoofer, but it definitely doesn't....not sure what to do.  I've been reading a lot on the Rubicon Owners forum about changing out the head unit for much better sound...i want to run my ipod through it.  I want evrything to be as hidden as possible, of course with the best sound i can get.

Bob, I've got the sub in my console.  Thats where it is, pointed toward the drivers seat.  Not sure it makes a difference though.

Think i might just ditch the stock head unit, and get something from crutchfield, that is ipod comp.

I put in a Kenwood HU and a powered amp in the back behind the rear seat.
A instatrunk help protect it and gives it the enclousure it needs
There are a few nice units out there, some even specific to the Wrangler....

I'm looking at this one...reviews seem pretty good, plus it charges the ipod as well...which i definitely want
