SYE Install.. to remove or not to remove

So after installing my lift on my 00' XJ ,I ended up with some vibrations.  As a band-aid I put on a TC drop to get me through for a bit.  Well after installing the TC drop I still have some vibrations.  Not nearly as bad, but enough to make me want to do the SYE sooner than later.

At first I was going to get a donor TC to put it in,  then just swap it out.  But doing some more research I have a feeling I can do this on a weekend.    Now my question is,  am I better off to just remove the TC completely and do the SYE on a bench,  or is it pretty easy to do while on the vehicle?

Honestly I don't know if it will save me much time by leaving it on,  but seeing as this is my daily driver,  I'm looking for the best approach.

Don't just get a good set, get the right set of snap ring pliers, they aren't the snap rings with holes, they are just slant ends. The longest process of doing mine was getting those damn snap rings off

and if you wanna be safe buy a spare transfer case magnet.

I broke mine while doing it

This rebuild kit is pretty complete

I ended up sitting Indian style under my Jeep and did the sye that way but would have def been easier on a bench

I’d do it on the bench. It’s super easy once it’s out. As long as you have the right snap ring pliers.

I've done more than a few - on the bench is the way to go.  Once on the bench I can do one start to finish in 15-20 minutes.  As mentioned - the right snap ring pliers makes all the difference

If you have any questions,  Frank is the guy to ask.

From what I've read, I can use a front drive shaft in the rear once the sye is completed.  I was going to go that route to save some money.

You read wrong.

You will need to have one measured and made as well as adjusting the rear pinion with adjustable control arms.

It's an XJ thing, a front DS from and auto XJ will actually fit in the rear with a SYE.

However it Will take a few days to come in, you can take a guess at it but its not recommended
