you want lock ring pliers similar this.

Yes!  This!  I have a Craftsman one like that that I've had and used to do a dozen + SYE installs for over a decade!

I'm right off RT66 in Columbia - If you pull it in the morning and bring it over on a Saturday afternoon, I can help you with the SYE install...

Wow,  I have to admit,  for being a noob for just a few days I can see you all have an amazing community here.  I'm very excited to become a part of it.

Thank you all for your help.  So I guess I will be removing the TC in the near future.  And JeepinMaxx,  thank you for the offer.  I am going to try to tackle it myself and if I get into a bind I will take you up on your offer.

I am going to try to get away with picking up an XJ front driveshaft to see if that will work.  If not I will look at going custom.
Thank you all again!

If you are working on the Cheap(Like I usually do) It's pretty easy to shorten a driveshaft,  I think I paid $50 last time.  So find a stock one that is too long.

From what I've read, I can use a front drive shaft in the rear once the sye is completed.  I was going to go that route to save some money.

You read that right. One of the benefits of having an XJ. I currently run a front shaft in the rear of my XJ and it's a perfect fit. It's a good for more most lifts from 3-6" or so. You will want an auto front XJ driveshaft. I would say that this is a good time to rebuild the shaft before you install it. Let me know if you have trouble finding a shaft. I know where there's likely a few laying around.

Hey jumping in here with a question, just ordered a sye kit for my TJ. What kind of snap ring pliers?
