TEN Factory chromoly axle group buy

I'm an idiot. I never got a chance to talk to Eric at the Rally.

I just spoke to him, and the TJ shafts are being shipped from Illinois, so he said by Friday. Thanks again Ken!

Also, for anyone else considering the XJ 8.25 shafts, Ten Factory ships them with bearings, seals, and studs so the whole deal was $159 to my door WITH the seals and bearings.

I'm bummed! They said/thought they were in stock, but now they say they won't get them until the end of next week. I was hoping to have these for RF weekend.

I actually meant to post here with a follow up. Haven't installed the shafts yet, but I got a hand written letter from ORE saying thank you for my purchase and apologizing for the delay. I wasn't in a rush so the delay wasn't an issue for me and they kept me informed throughout the process, but it was super cool to see how much they care about their customers. Prices might get you to make a purchase, but customer service is what keeps customers coming back. I can now see why Ken pushes so hard for this company.

Good chance you'll get a hand written Christmas card as well. Gill will sometimes throw the most random stuff in the box too. I've gotten everything from air fresheners to candy lol

That a bummer. Ten factory's stock must have been really low

Mine just came in today! The delay was with Tenfactory not Offroad Elements.

If you ever were thinking about outer axle seals, now is probably the time. Keep all the mud and other shit out of the axle tubes.

Thanks Jeremy, I have a set installed. I'm going to make this my winter project and do ball joints as well.

Would you also run those with sleeved tubes or is that kind of overkill/unnecessary/not possible?

Not a huge fan of those axle seals, if anything they trap crap in the axle tube. as the knuckles turn it forces the longer side of the axle to pivot in the tube. The seals are compressed and crap goes in the tube. every time ive pulled the axle shafts, and seals there was water and grime in there. atleast with the tubes open the stuff is able to work its way out.

After sleeving a dana 30, it works way better than adding a truss. the only downside is it now making the weakest point the axle housing.

by sleeving the tubes it also decreases the amount of stuff that can build up in the tubes. If you install tube sleeves you cannot run the seals

I have those, I agree they just trap crap in.  I'm taking mine off the next time I pull my axles. :swear_mad:

Good to know. I don’t have the plastic dust guards anymore and was considering getting some of these seals. Guess I’ll leave it alone though.

This info helps make up my mind what to do with my axles. Currently I have seals. Didn’t sleeve yet because I couldn’t figure out what axles size to go with. Had contemplated 35 spline. Also thought about doing full float kit. I really like all of the Rock Krawler stuff but there’s no way to compare to 60s. Current plan is to stick with the 32 spline, sleeve and truss 44s till it’s time for 60s.

If you do heavy mud, not mud puddles, you need those axles seals. I've had so much sand in the tube that it lifted the axle up and leaked at the carrier seal. Had to wet vac the axle tube out.
