so coming home the other night the jeep started making a funny ticking sound whenever there was a load on the engine then it sounded like it backfired
now it runs fine as long as u are not in 4th gear (auto) or at an idle if you are it skips and buck and wont go very fast is you keep the r's up its fine
Anyone have any ideas

btw its a 94 xj 4.0

I have an idea clean out the EGR valve the could be carbon in it preventing it from closing and that causes a bad idle and bucking and sputtering

right before this started it overheated not for long enough to do any damage shut it off as soon as the light came on also changed the oil earlier in the day used exxon 10-50

soooooo i discovered today that even with the oil full there is no oil pressure according to the idiot lite

sooo what to do now

Check with a mechanical oil pressure gauge. you can buy one that is supposed to mount in the car for like $7.00 at walmart.

if it is where is should be get a new sending unit. if it is still zero. then its in the motor.

found the problem its the head gasket again !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
took me 45 mins to get the head off tommorow back together
