TIRE HELP!

I have an 03 Rubicon I am installing a Teraflex 4 inch lift and I want to go with 33X12.5 inch tires. My problem is I would like to reuse my Rubicon rims but I think the backspacing is all wrong. Has anybody used these rims out there and got away with it without using wheel spacers? I am thinking I will just bite it and buy 15 inch rims with the proper backspacing. I am told that 3.75 inch backspacing is pretty standard for that wheel tire combo on a TJ.

Ok so you are going in a two differant directions here...

A 33x12.5 size tire is metric therefore you would have to buy 15 inch rims becuase the Rubi rims are 16 inch rims.

Another way to look at it is.. Rubi rims are 300+ brand new if you were to damage them on the trail. A generic black rim is 30+.

Metric tires are gerneraly more expensive than standard sizes, especially 16 inch rims. If you planning on staying with the MTR, metric MTRs have smaller treads than the standard sizes.

If you were going to use the stock rims the metric size for a 33x12 is 305 something somethingR16, These tires will work and be fine for your current rims, i have seen people use the rubi rims on 35s. Minor rubbing may occur but you can stop this by changing you steering stop a little.

NEJeep members GTIRS, ERKELJEEP, and J.R.Cabral all run larger than stock tires on their factory Rubicon wheels. Check here for some info on what you're thinking of doing.
