Tire Pressure

What's a good PSI to run in 33's?? They came with 36 PSI in them, I know that's too high, because I didn't even run that in my 31's.

everyone always runs different PSI. A good pressure for me always seemed to be 28psi. You could always start there and go up or go down a few PSI and find what works best for you specifice application

On the street I run 25psi in the Swampers, on the trail about 4.

I run 28 to 30, depending on how far I am driving on the highway...

on the trail, I run 6 to 10 depending on how the trail is (an what tire)

I run my 33's at 25 lbs cold on-road. The pressure rises a bit as the tires warm up. I keep a close eye on my tire pressures because of the detroit locker. It doesn't like uneven tire pressures. :shakehead:
9 - 10 lbs on the trail.

I run my tires at 45 psi. A little hard for best handling but I get good tire life and good gas mileage.

do the chalk trick. make a heavy chalk line across your tire (width wise) and drive straight for about 50 feet. if the chalk is gone in the middle, the pressure is too high. if rubbed off on the outsides, too low. this seems to be the best way to get even tread wear on an aggressive tire. you can also do this with the tires warm if you drive long distances. Ok, so here the thing. I go out last evening to set the tire pressure on the new wheels. (They were all over the place, one had 35 and other had 29)

Anyway, I noticed that as soon as I took the cap off the valve on one of them, I heard air slowly coming out. I put the cap back on tight and it stopped.

Is there anyway to tighten the valve itself. Or is it not worth it and just get the valve replaced?

I just a little concerned because the local tire shop said they would have to remount and balance the tire. And being that it's a brand new tire and rim.... I don't want them to "F" it up.

There is a stem tool to tighten the inner valve of the stem and they are designed to screw out
If it's not loose it's defective and should be replaced

Steve is correct... if you do need to replace it, let me know, we can change it real easy, with out needing to balance anything. remember, you only need to pop one side... the placement of the tire should not move on the rim and thus the balance should remain the same.

That sounds like the valvecore is loose.

Go get a valve core tool and tighten it up. (pretty muce a piece of tube with a slot cut in it.)
