TJ build start. Need some advice

After a discussion earlier this year

Jason / AKA Horn recommended it ( he was on a LJ with smaller tires)

I added one to my TJ that came with the box with spare parts just in case and painted it so I could see if it made a difference on my PSC steering box

We did lots of ledges with extreme approach angles in October (winched up a couple) and not one scratch on the paint.  Save your money for belly & rocker skids...  I

I probably hit my steering box because I’m so much lower. I had the skid for it sitting around for about 8 months before putting it on because it wouldn’t sit flat when I had stock bumpers.
It’s my engine/transmission, transfer case, and gas tank skids that take the brunt of the bettings. All have been upgraded.

I also did a ZJ tie rod upgrade that didn’t cost a lot but is significantly beefier than stock.

When we were up in vermont for a trail cut we saw the guy with the built old school green cherokee smash a huge hole in his power steering box on a rock

That’s the guy that also flipped on lake trail almost at the first corner when he was leading lol

I showed up with 33’s, 4:11 d30/35 combo with rear limited slip. Thought I had something. Did my probie run, went Waggy D44 HD’s 5:13 locked and 35’s. My Southern mud experiance didn’t mean jack up here. I went Detroit Locker in the back, Eaton elec selectable front and happy with my set up. As stated, I’m over built for what I wheel, but was able to do the work myself...

So yea, wheel a few times, take this input and apply it.

Skides will stay, start there. Oh, another thing, gas tank skid isn’t as beefy as you think. Knocked my fuel pump at Badlands leaning on the skinny pedal. Went up, came down and...

I’ve put a 8.8 in mine running a 37” mtr and it takes a lickin’. They can be had for short money and there’s plenty of manufacturers that make bracket kits that aren’t very expensive either.

The girl in that video was wearing high heel sneakers  :rotflmao:  All that work to put a fake hub on to get off the trail!  AND they didn't address getting the broken C clip out of the differential...  Spare axle is cheap insurance

Wouldn't bolting on a temp hub be less painful,  then pulling a cover.  To get off the trail?

1. Post WTB in the Pawn Shop section
2. Craigslist
3. FB Market place
4. car-part.com - It's a database of all the junk yards.
