So I come out of my room this morning, walking across the street to work when I pass my Jeep and notice a nice, huge wet spot in front of it? I think my Jeep pissed itself! Seriously though, it looks like the lower hose on the radiator let go. I've already gone to NAPA to order it and it should get delievered to me by 130pm. I noticed a lot of rust in the puddle. To flush my radiator, can I just run some water through the top and let it run out the bottom until the water looks clean?

Check the top of the radiator where the plastic thinger attaches, first place that leaks.

I didn't get to flush the radiator very well. It's tuff working on a vehicle here on base, especially when hazmat materials are leaking out of it. I got it together, only to drive it to an Autozone and have one of the clamps come off and all the coolant leaked out in the parking lot. It took some doing, but I managed to fix it again in the parking lot. I'm sure I still need to flush the radiator, but I just spent $50 fixing this twice, so I'll wait to do that.

Since you are in the Coast Guard you can take it to the sub base auto hobby shop they are open from 4-9(16-2100)w,t,f and 9-4(09-1600) sat. I will be woking there this friday if you need some help flushing it.

Hey Mike...

I just heard yesterday that they reopened the auto hobby shop. I'm not going to flush it just yet. I've got to recoup from blowing $50 at this already.

Looks like I need a new radiator. Took it to a shop and the guy said he would more than likely have to replace it. $280 to do that with labor. The damned radiator is $175 by itself! It's a slow drip, so I think I'll be running around with extra coolant for awhile.

RJ, let me know if you want to do the rad. We can swap it out at my house. Just did one for cjshloman about 2 months ago. Quick and easy job. It only takes about a six-pack worth of time. (I drink fast). Let me know.
