A guy told me that the currie TJ heavy duty tie rods where almost the same as the 98 Grand with the 5.9L. He told me that I could go to an auto parts store that sells american parts and by just about the same thing. He told me that it was almost as stong and for the price you couldn't beat it. I was just wondering if anyone else has heard this before? I need new Tie rods and ball joints so i need some help again?
thanks for any help,
steve

yes he is correct, when all said and done with the ZJ upgrade you are looking at about 100 dollars or so. Make sure to go with the v8 tie rod as the I6s use a hollow tie rod and the 8s a solid peice

Napa Part numbers
Tie Rod End (269-2788)
Adjusting Sleeve (269-1134)
Tie Rod (DS1312)

You can also get the parts from CarQuest (they use Moog part numbers)

ES2079S Adjusting Sleve
ES3096L Short Tie Rod End
DS1312 Long Tie Rod End

obviously the guy at NAPA wasn't much help,
Here are the choices,

Tie Rod End Outer w/ Right Hand Threads 22mm Threads 30.83" Long Right At Steering Arm's NCP 2696083  $ 124.00

Tie Rod End Inner w/ Right Hand Threads 22mm Threads 35.34" Long At Connecting Rod, Right, Steering Arm To Connecting Rod  NCP 2696085 $76.49

I'm pretty sure it's the inner with a 35 inch measure...right?

I called NAPA here in Groton yesterday to inquire about the cost and what I found out was this:

Tie Rod End (269-2788)- $42.39
Adjusting sleeve (269-1134)- $24.99
And the other tie rod end (DS1312)- NAPA's system went down but the quote from Car Quest for the same part number was $82.29.

Right around $160 bucks for all of it
