just put new clutch plate, bearing, slave, reserfaced flywheel etc....
'89 yj 4.2 ...works great until about 1/2 hour into wheelin' it gets almost impossible to but it in gear, any ideas why? :?

where did you get your clutch from? is it new or rebuild? does the pedal get hard to push or does it seem like there is no movement of the pressure plate even though the pedal is being depressed? pete

no dude--- the clutch pushes in just fine, and it's pretty much just the shifter not being able to be put in gear easily when my jeep finally gets warmed up after about half an hour of wheelin'. Their is definately enough pressure, and it works great for awhile, but i have to really put my back into it to jam it into first gear on any terrain after a little while of taking it out.``It wasn't rebuilt, so i have no idea. I do know i did not have this problem before i had my clutch changed over, i just know i needed a new one because i couldn't keep my dot3 in my master resevoir for a descent amount of time, thus leaving virtually no pressure for my left knee to contend with

are you loosing any fluid is the system blead all the way. it seems as though the clutch is not disengaging all the way thus causing hard shifts.

that's true, ill check my master cylinder fluid level and get back to yall. I had mike, a mechanic in avon who used to work for Driving Image in unionvill, pretty much just on jeeps. I bought my clutch assembly on E- bay, all new parts for $150 total. Seemed ok to me and the mechanic. But i guess you are probably right about the clutch not engaging all the way, but i gotta say the pressure seems fine. I appreciate the feedback and will drive it on the road for awhile and see if I have the same problems that i do on the trails as far as not being able to get it in gear after it warms up.
