hey guys, Im not to sure what I should be looking for as far as tow hooks go. Do they mount to the frame underneath or to the bumper? Are the identical for the front and the rear? Who is a good manufacturer? Thanks for the help in advanced

North Branford...... ....cool.

Born and raised :yup:

I just checked my front bumper real quick and no front tow hooks...I know my boss has an 05' TJ and he has them right on front in the places where I just have slots (Im geussing thats where they mount?)...

Not all TJs have tow hooks. It was a option on the sports and Saharas back then, the only TJ to come with tow hooks was the Rubicon.

You can go to Pep Boys or Advanced auto and buy a nice set of hooks that will work with the factory front bumper for now. I think they cost something like 20 dollars for the set, they come with the bolts you need, all you need is a torx set to get your bumper bolts out and bolt on the hooks. As for the rear, I saw that detour said that he has seen them pulled out of the frame. I haven't seen this, but i guess it could happen. There is a way of getting the same hooks from above attached to the rear, but is a pain to install.

are you serious? where abouts? ill stop by after work some time this week

i don't remember, i want to say no it wasn't.. but i have a horrible memory. I never had a problem with my old TJ but maybe it was because it never got stuck.

Whatever you do DO NOT WELD THEM ON - unless it is done by a certified welder. I have seen hooks welded on by hacks that looked good, but went flying when a load was applied.
